It’s that time of year again for Plastic-Free July!! We’re excited to announce Wild About’s Sale for the Oceans during the month of July, to join the movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution.
What is Plastic-Free July?
Plastic-Free July is a movement that started in 2011 by Rebecca Prince-Ruiz (the founder of the Plastic Free Foundation). The movement has inspired 100+ million participants in 190 countries by making small changes to remove plastic in your daily lives for the month of July.
Every minute, the equivalent of one garbage truck of plastic is dumped into the ocean. This marine litter and plastic pollution endangers aquatic life, threatens human health and results in myriad hidden costs for the economy. Such a global threat requires a global response. Just in March 2022, the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) passed a resolution mandating the creation of a multilateral treaty to address plastic pollution. Nearly 200 countries at the United Nations environment assembly in Nairobi, Kenya, agreed on to develop a global treaty.
Plastic-Free July is such an important campaign that allows anyone and everyone to be part of the solution by simply taking action every single day during the month of July. What we are doing for Plastic-Free July?
For the month of July, every purchase of any Wild About Item, we will remove 2kgs of plastic from our oceans with our partners at Seven Clean Seas. (We also account for all the recycled plastic in our products by removing the same amount of plastic from our oceans, making them plastic neutral.)
As a proud slow fashion brand, we want to ensure that everyone can make an impact this Plastic-Free July even if you are unable to purchase our items.
